I’ve took a long break from fighting games and community surrounding them, and now, after getting PS2 for christmas, I’m experimenting with some games I previously couldn’t put my hand on or wasn’t particularly interested.

Melty Blood and Arcana Heart

Melty Blood always looked nice when I seen it on /fgg/ or somewhere else and it’s in fact a nice game overall. Arcana mechanics in Arcana Heart blew my mind when I first saw them because of the potential that was there, but it was mostly unused. In Melty Blood: Actress Again on the other hand, the different fighting styles (Full Moon Style, Crescent Moon Style and Half Moon Style) are more subtle but leave space for diversity amongst characters. It feels better.

In-depth guides

For now, I would like to try to dive deeper into Melty Blood, but there are few problems. I don’t have AACC release (it’s available on Steam) for which most guides are aimed, and AA for PS2 that I’ve got is NTSC-J only. I can play it, but the language barrier is still there. I found one tutorial series on YT, should be enough.
